Port Huron survives Bismarck comeback, wins 4-3Schwan SR-4 Thu, Sep 13, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Bismarck Bobcats tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Port Huron Fighting Falcons would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3. A goal by Ian Miller put Port Huron up 4-2 in the third period, but Bismarck pulled to within one on Adam Knochenmus' tally 15:36 into the third period. Nick Horne was all over the ice for the Fighting Falcons, as he had two goals in the win. Horne found the back of the net short handed 8:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Bismarck and again while 13:45 into the second to make the score 2-2. Port Huron stifled the Bobcats' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 36 shots on goal, the Fighting Falcons exceeded the 29.5 shots they average per game this year. Port Huron also got a goal from Tom Kempinski as well. More assists for Port Huron came via Bryan Yim, Mitch Maloney, and Nicholas Sierra, who each chipped in one. Bismarck put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Port Huron to score on any of its four power plays. The Bobcats' offense was clicking better than usual and put 26 shots on goal during the game, better than the 20.4 shots per game they average. Bismarck was led by Tyler Tatro, who dished out three assists. The Fighting Falcons' Max Milosek stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Port Huron incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Shane Joyce rejected 32 shots on goal for the Bobcats. Bismarck incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
