Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U vanquishes Omaha AAA Lancers 18U in shootout, 3-2

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U defeated Omaha AAA Lancers 18U in a shootout 3-2.

The two teams needed eight turns to complete the shootout. Omaha AAA Lancers 18U's shootout goal was scored by Brett Becker. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U's other shootout goals were scored by Troy Loggins and Marcus Mollica.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U trailed 2-1 after a power play goal by Omaha AAA Lancers 18U's Ryan Fretwell at 9:50 in the second period. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U knotted things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Tyler Wilkerson at 2:59 in the third period.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U was helped by Loggins, who tallied one goal. Loggins scored on the power play 12:53 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U had gotten the advantage when Omaha AAA Lancers 18U's Austin Shick was sent off for body checking. Robert Tirea provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U were Max Mclain, Mollica, and Charles Arsenescu, who contributed one a piece.

Omaha AAA Lancers 18U's offense was handcuffed by Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U's defensive play, and Omaha AAA Lancers 18U managed only 14 shots on goal during the game.

Omaha AAA Lancers 18U was helped by Justin Weber, who racked up one goal. Weber scored on the power play 8:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Omaha AAA Lancers 18U. Omaha AAA Lancers 18U had gained a power play chance when Mollica was whistled for tripping. Daniel Sosa assisted on the tally. More assists for Omaha AAA Lancers 18U came via Doss Allen and Ondrej Valo, who each chipped in one.

Kenny Eakle rejected 12 shots on goal for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Vladyslav Slyusarchuk recorded 19 saves for Omaha AAA Lancers 18U. Omaha AAA Lancers 18U incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
