St. Louis Selects 18U uses shootout to best Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U, 2-1

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as St. Louis Selects 18U defeated Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U in a shootout 2-1.

The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U got a shootout goal from Marcus Mollica. St. Louis Selects 18U also got a shootout goal from Jared Brandt.

St. Louis Selects 18U was led by goalie Curtis Vitale, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. Vitale managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.1 prior to the game.

St. Louis Selects 18U was led by Tyler Gilleland, who grabbed one goal. Gilleland scored 17:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis Selects 18U. Brian Rupp assisted on the tally.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U puts an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U was led by Mollica, who scored the team's only goal. Mollica scored short handed 10:00 into the third period to make the score 1-1. An interference call on James Wade put Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U on the penalty kill. Max Mclain picked up the assist.

St. Louis Selects 18U incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U took out Kenny Eakle after he had made nine saves and installed Quentin Abrams in goal, where he finished with 11 saves and the loss.
