Omaha AAA Lancers 18U vanquishes St. Louis Selects 18U in shootout, 3-2

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Omaha AAA Lancers 18U defeated St. Louis Selects 18U in a shootout 3-2.

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. Omaha AAA Lancers 18U's other shootout goals were scored by Brett Becker and Ryan Cagnoni.

Omaha AAA Lancers 18U came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Omaha AAA Lancers 18U was down 2-1 after a short handed goal by St. Louis Selects 18U's Tyler Gilleland at 12:05 in the second period. Omaha AAA Lancers 18U knotted things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Braiden Miller at 16:47 in the second period.

Omaha AAA Lancers 18U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Louis Selects 18U to score on any of its four power plays. Omaha AAA Lancers 18U forced St. Louis Selects 18U goalie Bradley Amato to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Omaha AAA Lancers 18U also got a goal from Alex Arnold as well. In addition, Omaha AAA Lancers 18U received assists from Ryan Fretwell and Austin Shick, who each chipped in one.

St. Louis Selects 18U found itself short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.

Corbin Foppe also scored for St. Louis Selects 18U. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis Selects 18U were Alex Klaesner and John Patterson, who contributed one a piece.

Vladyslav Slyusarchuk rejected 26 shots on goal for Omaha AAA Lancers 18U. Omaha AAA Lancers 18U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Amato recorded 33 saves for St. Louis Selects 18U.
