West Michigan Hounds 18U uses shootout to best Lansing Capitals 18U, 2-1

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as West Michigan Hounds 18U defeated Lansing Capitals 18U in a shootout 2-1.

The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams. Lansing Capitals 18U's shootout goal was scored by Camren Jorgensen. In addition to the clincher, West Michigan Hounds 18U got a shootout goal from Brandon Wolfe.

Lansing Capitals 18U's power play was ineffective against West Michigan Hounds 18U's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

West Michigan Hounds 18U stifled Lansing Capitals 18U's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

West Michigan Hounds 18U was led by E J Blakeslee, who finished with one goal. Blakeslee scored 3:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 West Michigan Hounds 18U. Alex Bjork picked up the assist. In addition, West Michigan Hounds 18U received assists from Wolfe, who had one.

Lansing Capitals 18U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow West Michigan Hounds 18U to score on any of its nine power plays.

Lansing Capitals 18U was led by Matthew Husak, who scored the team's only goal. Husak scored 16:47 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Alex Husak provided the assist.

Philip Kuznetsov recorded 22 saves for West Michigan Hounds 18U. West Michigan Hounds 18U incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Matthew Macinnis made 14 saves for Lansing Capitals 18U on 15 shots. Lansing Capitals 18U incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
