Detroit Falcons 18U uses shootout to best New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U, 4-3

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Detroit Falcons 18U defeated New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U in a shootout 4-3.

The shootout lasted for seven attempts between the teams. In addition to the clincher, Detroit Falcons 18U got a shootout goal from Ethan Sarfati.

Detroit Falcons 18U overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Detroit Falcons 18U fell behind 3-2 after a goal by New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U's Liam Stirtzinger at 6:43 in the third period. Detroit Falcons 18U tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Jeff Moran at 14:30 in the third period.

Detroit Falcons 18U kept New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U's goalie busy throughout the game, and Joseph Licata made 34 saves on 38 shots.

Detroit Falcons 18U was led by Sarfati, who grabbed two goals. Sarfati scored the first of his two goals at 2:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Detroit Falcons 18U. Brian Stack picked up the assist. Sarfati's next tally made the score 2-1 Detroit Falcons 18U with 8:09 left in the first period. Detroit Falcons 18U had gotten the advantage when New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U's Ryan Burr was sent off for hooking. Wyatt Ford assisted on the tally. More assists for Detroit Falcons 18U came via Matt Dempsey and Jack Pierson, who each chipped in one.

Andrew Vovk also scored for New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U. In addition, New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U received assists from francis and Ryan Price, who contributed one a piece.

Detroit Falcons 18U's Nate Klebe stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Detroit Falcons 18U ended with no penalties and went 1-for-6 on the power play. New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and had no power play opportunities.
