Hodges leads Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U over Atlanta Fire 16U, 11-2

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U's Brian Hodges had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 11-2 win over Atlanta Fire 16U.

Hodges scored at 1:54 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 13:30 into the first to make the score 3-1 Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U forced Atlanta Fire 16U's goaltenders to work in net, taking 47 shots and forcing 36 saves. Connor Stewart made 14 stops and Robby Korb made 22. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U has scored at the pace of 4.6 goals per game during the current campaign. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U took advantage of Atlanta Fire 16U's penalties, tallying three goals off of five power play opportunities. The defensemen of Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U were also effective in Atlanta Fire 16U's zone, and came away with three goals.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U additionally got points from Eetu Selanne, who also registered one goal and one assist, Zachary Wolivar, who also had one goal and three assists, Riley Hummitsch, who also tallied three goals and two assists to lead the team in points, and Shane McMahan, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Matthew McGrew also scored for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U. Other players who recorded assists for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U were Colton Rhodes and Austin Chavez, who contributed one a piece and Tyse Teague, Taylor Trinkwon, and Elijiah Barriga, who each chipped in four.

Atlanta Fire 16U's offense was handcuffed by Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U's defensive play, and Atlanta Fire 16U managed only 12 shots on goal during the game.

Atlanta Fire 16U was helped by Jared McCracken, who registered two goals. McCracken scored the first of his two goals at 22 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Atlanta Fire 16U. Chase Pearson provided the assist. McCracken's next tally made the score 8-2 Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U with 7:11 left in the second period. Pearson assisted on the tally. More assists for Atlanta Fire 16U came via Reagan Cink, who had one.

Garrett Mello recorded 10 saves for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Atlanta Fire 16U incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
