Berry's big game bests Phoenix Firebirds 16U in 3-1 West Michigan Hounds 16U win

Behind a great game by Kyle Berry, who had two goals and one assist, West Michigan Hounds 16U defeated Phoenix Firebirds 16U, 3-1.

Berry scored at nine seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 1:51 into the third to make the score 2-1 West Michigan Hounds 16U.

West Michigan Hounds 16U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Phoenix Firebirds 16U to score on any of its four power plays. West Michigan Hounds 16U kept Phoenix Firebirds 16U's goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Conkling made 28 saves on 31 shots.

Seth Blakeslee also scored for West Michigan Hounds 16U. In addition, West Michigan Hounds 16U received assists from Parker Barcikoski, Patrick Nicholson, and Chandler Dorbin, who contributed one a piece.

Phoenix Firebirds 16U's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three West Michigan Hounds 16U power plays.

Phoenix Firebirds 16U was led by Quinn Thibeault, who scored the team's only goal. Thibeault scored 8:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Phoenix Firebirds 16U.

Peter Hansknecht rejected 21 shots on goal for West Michigan Hounds 16U. West Michigan Hounds 16U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Phoenix Firebirds 16U incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
