Lansing Capitals 16U outlasts West Michigan Hounds 16U, 4-2

The game between Lansing Capitals 16U and West Michigan Hounds 16U was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Lansing Capitals 16U emerged with a 4-2 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Kieran Durgan's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Lansing Capitals 16U was sparked by Durgan, who registered one goal. Durgan scored on the power play 6:18 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Lansing Capitals 16U. Lansing Capitals 16U had gotten the advantage when West Michigan Hounds 16U's Keegan Ward was sent off for charging. Justin Riffel assisted on the tally.

Lansing Capitals 16U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow West Michigan Hounds 16U to score on any of its four power plays.

Lansing Capitals 16U also got points from Alexander Desautel, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Nathan Rieman also scored for Lansing Capitals 16U. In addition, Lansing Capitals 16U received assists from Wyatt Beard, Austin Kuch, Evan Huber, and Ross Whitehead, who each chipped in one.

West Michigan Hounds 16U could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

West Michigan Hounds 16U was helped by Dakota Wilson, who grabbed one goal. Wilson scored 10:02 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Patrick Nicholson picked up the assist. West Michigan Hounds 16U also got a goal from Whallon Chase as well. Other players who recorded assists for West Michigan Hounds 16U were Wyatt Gottschalk and Anthony Longo, who contributed one a piece.

Jacob Gwillim made 17 saves for Lansing Capitals 16U on 19 shots. Lansing Capitals 16U incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Chandler Reinking rejected 26 shots on goal for West Michigan Hounds 16U.
