Wenatchee Wild 16U outlasts Pursuit of Excellence 16U, 4-2

Wenatchee Wild 16U and Pursuit of Excellence 16U were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Wenatchee Wild 16U made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Cory Burnett's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Burnett was all over the ice for Wenatchee Wild 16U, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Burnett scored the first of his two goals at 3:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wenatchee Wild 16U. Burnett's next tally made the score 3-2 Wenatchee Wild 16U with 11:29 left in the third period. Wenatchee Wild 16U earned a power play opportunity when Joseph Mcleod was put in the box for slashing. Jonah Pearson provided the assist.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U's power play was ineffective against Wenatchee Wild 16U's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U was unable to stop Wenatchee Wild 16U from sending pucks towards the net, and Wenatchee Wild 16U eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Chris Koukis also scored for Wenatchee Wild 16U. In addition, Wenatchee Wild 16U received assists from Wyatt Meiers and Luke Van Schaack, who each chipped in one.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U was helped by Zachary Zorn, who grabbed one goal. Zorn scored 13:05 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Pursuit of Excellence 16U also got a goal from Ralph Jarrett as well.

Alex Olson made 20 saves for Wenatchee Wild 16U on 22 shots. Wenatchee Wild 16U totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Wenatchee Wild 16U ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Zach Paxman was ejected from the game. Mcleod recorded 38 saves for Pursuit of Excellence 16U. Pursuit of Excellence 16U incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
