New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U uses shootout to best Pikes Peak Miners 16U, 5-4

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U defeated Pikes Peak Miners 16U in a shootout 5-4.

The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams. Pikes Peak Miners 16U got shootout goals from Jeremy Solat and J.P. Nolette. New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U also got shootout goals from Anthony Cusanelli and Matthew Kidney.

New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U trailed 4-2 after a goal by Pikes Peak Miners 16U's Ryan Solomon at 12:10 in the third period. New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Ryan Walker at 14:25 in the third period.

New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U forced Pikes Peak Miners 16U goalie Quinton Reynolds to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U was led by JT Tarantino, who had one goal and one assist. Tarantino scored 4:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U. Scott Huber assisted on the tally. New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U also got a goal from Cusanelli as well. More assists for New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U came via Michael Gelatt, Christopher Wuestneck, Kidney, and Todd Goehring, who contributed one a piece.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U kept New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U's goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Cernero made 28 saves on 32 shots.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U was led by Ethan Solat, who racked up two goals and one assist. Solat scored the first of his two goals at 7:12 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Emilio Trujillo provided the assist. Solat's next tally made the score 3-2 Pikes Peak Miners 16U with 11:20 left in the third period. Brandon Tucker also scored for Pikes Peak Miners 16U. In addition, Pikes Peak Miners 16U received assists from Jackson York, Nolette, and Christian Gums, who each chipped in one.

New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U ended with no penalties and went 0-for-0 on the power play. Reynolds recorded 27 saves for Pikes Peak Miners 16U. Pikes Peak Miners 16U avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of zero power plays.
