Pittsburgh Viper Stars 16U uses shootout to best Pikes Peak Miners 16U, 4-3

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Pittsburgh Viper Stars 16U defeated Pikes Peak Miners 16U in a shootout 4-3.

The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams. In addition to the clincher, Pittsburgh Viper Stars 16U got a shootout goal from Anthony Franks.

Pittsburgh Viper Stars 16U overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Pittsburgh Viper Stars 16U was down 3-0 after a short handed goal by Pikes Peak Miners 16U's Ethan Solat at 7:27 in the second period. Pittsburgh Viper Stars 16U tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Arthur Birman at 9:06 in the third period.

Team could not crack Pikes Peak Miners 16U's penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Pittsburgh Viper Stars 16U was helped by Mario Damasceno, who finished with one goal. Damasceno scored on the power play 8:06 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Pikes Peak Miners 16U. Adam Alavi assisted on the tally. Jonathan Dagnal also scored for Pittsburgh Viper Stars 16U. Other players who recorded assists for Pittsburgh Viper Stars 16U were Daniel Staffen, Carter Ekberg, Joseph Randazzo, Austin Tonkovich, and Wyatt Glover, who contributed one a piece.

Pittsburgh Viper Stars 16U was unable to stop Pikes Peak Miners 16U from sending pucks towards the net, and Pikes Peak Miners 16U eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U also got a goal from Jackson York as well. More assists for Pikes Peak Miners 16U came via Riley DeFazio, who had one.
