Chavez leads Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U over Wenatchee Wild 16U, 7-2

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U's Austin Chavez had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 7-2 win over Wenatchee Wild 16U.

Chavez scored at 1:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U and again while 14:34 into the third to make the score 7-2 Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U kept Wenatchee Wild 16U's goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Huglen made 25 saves on 32 shots. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed four goals during the game.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U additionally got points from Eetu Selanne, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Riley Hummitsch, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U included Aidan Vazquez, who had one and Elijiah Barriga, who had two. More assists for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U came via Kody Ichinaga, Zachary Wolivar, Evan Nyhus, and Brian Hodges, who each chipped in one.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U's defense shut down Wenatchee Wild 16U's forwards for much of the game, and Wenatchee Wild 16U got off only 14 shots during the contest.

Wenatchee Wild 16U was led by Brock Weitl, who tallied one goal and one assist. Weitl scored on the power play 4:58 into the third period to make the score 6-1 Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U. Wenatchee Wild 16U earned a power play opportunity when Hummitsch was put in the box for cross checking. Andrew Lee assisted on the tally. Luke Van Schaack also scored for Wenatchee Wild 16U. Other players who recorded assists for Wenatchee Wild 16U were Ty Flynn and Chris Koukis, who contributed one a piece.

Garrett Mello rejected 12 shots on goal for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Wenatchee Wild 16U incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
