Adam leads North York over Hamilton, 5-2Mountain Arena Mon, Feb 18, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Valadao Adam was all over the ice for the North York Rangers, as he tallied two goals and one assist in North York's 5-2 win over the Hamilton Red Wings. Adam's tallies came at 12:11 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 4:49 into the second to make the score 3-1 North York.Hamilton's power play was ineffective against the Rangers' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The North York penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. The Rangers surpassed its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. North York made the Red Wings' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 50 shots and forcing 45 saves. Allen Avery made 17 stops and Bret Gilmore made 28. Team could not crack Hamilton's penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage. North York also got points from John Carpino, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Galli Austin also scored for North York. More assists for North York came via Corey Kalk, who had two and Patrick Piacentini, Liam Kerins, and Matthew Whittaker, who contributed one a piece. The Red Wings racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 51 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 26.0 minutes per game Hamilton had been spending in the box. The Red Wings were helped by Jason OConnor, who finished with one goal. OConnor scored on the power play 18 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hamilton. Hamilton had gotten the advantage when the Rangers' Alex Campbell was sent off for pre-game violation. Spencer Hyman assisted on the tally. Hamilton also got a goal from Sam Berg as well. In addition, Hamilton received assists from Patrick APM Durgy and Liam Bird, who each chipped in one. Keogh Jacob made 25 saves for North York on 27 shots. The Rangers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Fung Zachary was ejected from the game. For the Red Wings, Hyman was ejected from the game.
