Oakville downs Toronto in overtime, 4-3 (OT)Chesswood Arena Sun, Feb 17, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Oakville Blades' Luke Laidlaw scored 3:17 into overtime to beat the Toronto Junior Canadiens, 4-3 (OT). Laidlaw had a great game for Oakville, netting two goals. The Blades made Toronto's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 40 shots and forcing 36 saves. Nathan Colitto made 31 stops and Denny Dubblestyne made five. Team could not crack the Junior Canadiens' penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage. Oakville also got points from Nathan Renouf, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Oakville also got a goal from Spencer Green as well. Other players who recorded assists for Oakville were Jonah Renouf, Matt Alvaro, and Greg Campbell, who contributed one a piece and Aidan Orbinski and Stefan Leblanc, who each chipped in two. Toronto forced Oakville goalie Evan Buitenhuis to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. The Junior Canadiens could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. Toronto was helped by Connor Prudames, who had one goal and one assist. Prudames scored 18:46 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Gregory Di Tomaso assisted on the tally. Toronto additionally got points from Di Tomaso, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Adam Logozzo also scored for Toronto. In addition, Toronto received assists from Aaron Thow, Danny Liscio, Dalton APM Hnatko, and Joseph Santino, who contributed one a piece. Buitenhuis rejected 28 shots on goal for the Blades. Oakville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Junior Canadiens registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
