Buffalo wins tough contest against Mississauga, 5-3Northtown Feature Sun, Feb 17, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Buffalo Jr. Sabres and the Mississauga Chargers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Buffalo made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3. The Jr. Sabres gained the winning advantage on a goal by Pat Egan 16:51 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. Max Mikowski had two goals to lead Buffalo to victory. Mikowski scored short handed at 6:57 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while 19:40 into the third to make the score 5-3 Buffalo. The Jr. Sabres forced Mississauga goalie Austin Washkurak to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. Buffalo also got a goal from Tyler Gjurich as well. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Dylan Howatt, who had two and Darrin Trebes, Ben Casale, Ryall Ledyard, Sean Federow, Alex Dagnal, and Nolan Sheeran, who each chipped in one. The Chargers were helped by Ross Sloan, who finished with one goal. Sloan scored on the power play 2:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississauga. Mississauga had gained a power play chance when Kollin Schultz was whistled for too many men. B Beasley provided the assist. Ryan Hunter also scored for Mississauga. More assists for Mississauga came via Stefano Alonzi, Trevor Warnaar, Brett Everson, and Lucas Venuto, who contributed one a piece. Bobby Bloomfield rejected 18 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Jr. Sabres incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Washkurak recorded 35 saves for the Chargers. Mississauga incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
