Forslund nets hat trick, leads Aurora to 9-7 win over PickeringPickering Recreation Complex Sun, Feb 17, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pickering Panthers could not stop the Aurora Tigers' Blake Forslund, who tallied a hat trick in a 9-7 win. Forslund got on the scoresheet 17:30 into the first period. He then added goals at 14:38 into the second and at 18:34 into the third.Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:36 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Aurora forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 13.0 minutes per game the Tigers had been spending in the box. Aurora made Panthers' goalies to work without much rest, taking 41 shots and forcing 32 saves. J P Cesario made 12 stops and Conor Barrie made 20. The Tigers' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Aurora averages 3.4 goals per contest. The Tigers took advantage of Pickering's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities. Aurora additionally got points from Taylor McCloy, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Dylan Sikura, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Robert Angiolella, who also had two goals and three assists to lead the team in points. Aurora also got a goal from Daniel Lisi as well. More assists for Aurora came via Dylan Wallace and Adam Moody, who contributed one a piece and Kory Kennedy and John Doyle, who each chipped in two. The Panthers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Pickering averages 2.6 goals per game. The Panthers were helped by Andrew McCann, who tallied two goals and one assist. McCann scored the first of his two goals at 3:37 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brodie Tutton provided the assist. McCann's next tally made the score 5-4 Pickering with 13:48 left in the second period. Tanner Bull assisted on the tally. Pickering also got points from Bull, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Nicholas Lepone, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Tutton, who also had one goal and one assist. Micah Nichols also scored for Pickering. In addition, Pickering received assists from Aidan Wallace, Michael Montford, Brent Tuchner, Cory Lauer, and Jeff Heard, who contributed one a piece. Kevin Entmaa made five saves before being replaced by Brett Sinclair, who took the win and made 17 saves. Aurora ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Daniel Clairmont was ejected from the game. Pickering totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 3-for-8 on the power play. For the Panthers, Heard was ejected from the game.
