Hunter, Venuto dominate Hamilton, lead Mississauga to 8-5 win

Behind two goals and three assists from Ryan Hunter and two goals and two assists from Lucas Venuto, the Mississauga Chargers downed the Hamilton Red Wings 8-5.

Hunter scored the first of his two goals at 10:28 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Mississauga. Mitchell Mehling assisted on the tally. Hunter's next tally made the score 7-5 Mississauga with 3:27 left in the third period. Mississauga had gotten the advantage when Hamilton's Allen Avery was sent off for tripping. Nick Zottl provided the assist. Venuto scored the first of his two goals at 19:10 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Mississauga. Trevor Warnaar assisted on the tally. Venuto's next tally made the score 8-5 Mississauga with 1:19 left in the third period. The Chargers earned a power play opportunity when Troy Crema was put in the box for roughing. Hunter picked up the assist.

Mississauga kept the Red Wings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Avery made 45 saves on 53 shots. The Chargers bested their season scoring average. Mississauga averages 3.6 goals per game.

Mississauga additionally got points from Stefano Alonzi, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Warnaar, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Venuto, who also registered two goals and two assists, and Ross Sloan, who also had one goal and one assist. Mississauga also got a goal from Zackery Landsfield as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mississauga were Matthew Hore, who had two and Troy Taylor AP and Vince Figliomeni, who each chipped in one.

Hamilton's offense rang up 51 shots on the Chargers' net. The Red Wings surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Hamilton has scored at the pace of 2.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

The Red Wings were led by Sam Berg, who racked up three goals. Hamilton also got points from Crema, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Denis Fontyn, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Hamilton came via Patrick APM Durgy, Alex LeBrosse, and Liam Bird, who contributed one a piece and Jason OConnor and Patrice Fozo, who each chipped in two.

Mississauga's Austin Washkurak stopped 46 shots out of the 51 that he faced. The Chargers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Hamilton incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
