Buffalo rips Oakville, 5-1Joshuas Creek Arena - Red Sat, Feb 16, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Buffalo Jr. Sabres had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Oakville Blades. Buffalo was led by goalie Parker Gahagen, who finished with 54 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Gahagen will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.56. The Jr. Sabres' penalty kill excelled, as Buffalo gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays. The Jr. Sabres could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Buffalo was helped by Alex Dagnal, who had one goal. Dagnal scored 2:25 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Buffalo. Brian Ruff picked up the assist. Buffalo also got points from Nolan Sheeran, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Buffalo also had goals scored by Tony DeVito, who had one and David Seward, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Tyler Gjurich, Ryan Schmelzer, Tim Kielich, Ryall Ledyard, and Sean Federow, who contributed one a piece. Oakville did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Blades put an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. Oakville's offense rang up 55 shots on the Jr. Sabres' net. The Blades were led by Greg Campbell, who scored the team's only goal. Campbell scored on the power play 10:41 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Buffalo. Oakville had taken the advantage when Buffalo's Derek Patterson got sent off for delay of game. Jonah Renouf provided the assist. The Jr. Sabres registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. The Blades' Evan Buitenhuis stopped 22 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Oakville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
