The North York Rangers scored three goals in the second period to pull away from the Burlington Cougars and clinch a 5-1 win.

North York's Jason Pucciarelli was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 27 saves and let only one puck past him. Pucciarelli managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.56 prior to the game.

John Carpino was all over the ice for the Rangers, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Carpino scored the first of his two goals at 4:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North York. Lapierre Charles picked up the assist. Carpino's next tally made the score 5-1 North York with 8:18 left in the third period. Taylor Pryce provided the assist.

North York's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Burlington power plays. The Rangers' offense rang up 38 shots on Burlington's net.

North York also got points from Pryce, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Franco Loparco also scored for North York. In addition, North York received assists from Patrick Piacentini, Fung Zachary, Ryan Kinsella, Liam Kerins, and Michael Giacometti, who each chipped in one.

The Cougars' offense operated below they season average. Burlington averages 3.6 goals per game.

North York incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brock Novak made 33 saves for the Cougars on 38 shots. Burlington incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
