Oakville falls apart in second, loses to Georgetown, 9-1

The Georgetown Raiders scored five goals in the second period to pull away from the Oakville Blades and clinch a 9-1 win.

Oakville fell victim to a deadly Georgetown power play, which ripped the Blades for four goals.

The Raiders were led by Phil Kiss, who had one goal and one assist. Kiss scored on the power play 4:03 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Georgetown. Georgetown had gotten the advantage when Oakville's Kris Bennet was sent off for interference. Tyler McCarthy provided the assist.

The Raiders forced Blades' netminders to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots and forcing 41 saves. Evan Buitenhuis made 17 stops and Spencer Bacon made 24. Georgetown excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Raiders outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Georgetown averages 3.9 goals per contest.

Georgetown also got points from Drake Hart, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Anthony Marra, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Jacob Bauchman, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Robbie Murden, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Georgetown also got a goal from Brendan Woods as well. In addition, Georgetown received assists from David Miller, who had two, Alex Botten, who had three, and Tyler MacPherson, Steve Hladin, and Liam Clare, who contributed one a piece.

The Blades could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Oakville averages 3.9 goals per game.

The Raiders' Keegan Wilson stopped 19 shots out of the 20 that he faced. Georgetown incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Blades incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
