Wellington downs Stouffville, 7-4

The Wellington Dukes won 7-4 over the Stouffville Spirit.

Wellington forced Spirit's goalies to work between the pipes, getting 32 shots and forcing 25 saves. Braydon Banitsiotis made 12 stops and Daniel Mannella made 13. The Dukes outdid their season average for goals scored. Wellington has scored at the pace of 3.0 goals per game during the current campaign. The Dukes could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Wellington was helped by Craig Campbell, who racked up one goal. Campbell scored 11:58 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Wellington. Brody Morris assisted on the tally. Wellington additionally got points from Mike Soucier, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Joe McKeown, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Wellington also had goals scored by Spencer Turcotte, who had two and Parker Wood and Austin Broadhurst, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Jake Marchment, who had one and Zach Bishop and Jan Kaminsky, who each chipped in two.

Stouffville's offense rang up 48 shots on the Dukes' net.

The Spirit were helped by MARC STEVENS, who had one goal and two assists. STEVENS scored on the power play 4:04 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Wellington. A roughing penalty on Erick Delaurentis had put Stouffville on the power play. Robert Powers provided the assist. Stouffville also got points from Michael Stevens, who also registered two goals and one assist. Michael Morgan also scored for Stouffville. More assists for Stouffville came via Daryl Thompson, Corey DeRose, and Dylan Savory, who contributed one a piece.

Wellington's Matt Larose stopped 44 shots out of the 48 that he faced. The Dukes registered one goal on two power play opportunities. The Spirit incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
