Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Kingston Voyageurs defeated the Whitby Fury in a shootout 2-1 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout.Kingston came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Voyageurs trailed 1-0 after a power play goal by Whitby's Taylor Best at 1:25 in the second period. Kingston knotted things up at 1-1 on a power play goal by Michael Casale at 49 seconds in the third period. The Fury were stymied by the Voyageurs netminder Charlie Finn, who stopped 36 shots during the victory. The solid play of Finn will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.21. Kingston forced Whitby goalie Tyler Feaver to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Other players who recorded assists for Kingston were Josh Hicks and Dylan Hutton, who each chipped in one. The Fury's offense rang up 37 shots on the Voyageurs' net. In addition, Whitby received assists from Sam Gray, who had one. Kingston incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
