Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Orangeville Flyers defeated the Burlington Cougars in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout.Burlington's power play was ineffective against Orangeville's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Flyers were sparked by Emmerson Small, who tallied one goal. Small scored 11:45 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Orangeville. Ian Nichols provided the assist. Orangeville kept the Cougars' goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Murray made 34 saves on 39 shots. Orangeville also got points from Geoffrey Bagnall, who also had one goal and one assist and Nichols, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Burlington additionally got points from D'Giancento, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Burlington also got a goal from Cooper Richards as well.
