Harris' goals lift Kingston to 7-2 victory over Newmarket

The Kingston Voyageurs relied on the scoring touch of Ludlow Harris, who netted two goals, to beat the Newmarket Hurricanes, 7-2.

Harris scored at 7:50 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Kingston and again while on the power play 15:50 into the first to make the score 4-2 Kingston.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:53 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Kingston was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. The Voyageurs had been averaging 15.0 minutes in penalties per game. Kingston bested its season scoring average. The Voyageurs have scored at the pace of 3.0 goals per game during the current campaign.

Kingston additionally got points from Francesco Vilardi, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Scott Mossman, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and David Quesnele, who also registered two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Kingston also got a goal from Dylan Hutton as well. More assists for Kingston came via Michael Casale, who had three and Chad Duchesne, Josh Hicks, Brian Nanne, Graham Yeo, Brandon O Quinn, Andrew Fullerton, and Brett Seney, who contributed one a piece.

Newmarket forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 14.0 minutes per game the Hurricanes had been spending in the box. Kingston was unable to stop Newmarket from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hurricanes eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Newmarket was led by Chris Chiste, who racked up two goals. Chiste scored the first of his two goals at 6:57 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Kingston. Brandon Francisco picked up the assist. Chiste's next tally made the score 3-2 Kingston with 8:52 left in the first period. The Hurricanes had gotten the advantage when the Voyageurs' Aidan Wright was sent off for slashing. Justin Maiolino assisted on the tally. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Kyler Nixon and Daniel Leavens, who each chipped in one.

Charlie Finn rejected 30 shots on goal for Kingston. The Voyageurs registered three goals on six power play opportunities. Kingston ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Fullerton was ejected from the game. Lucas Peressini made 19 saves for Newmarket on 26 shots. The Hurricanes registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For Newmarket, Ian Farrell was ejected from the game.
