Bennett nets hat trick, leads Milton to 6-3 win over OakvilleMilton Memorial Arena Sat, Feb 02, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Shane Bennett was the highlight in Icehawks' 6-3 win against the Oakville Blades. Bennett got on the scoresheet 8:48 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:45 into the second and at 6:10 into the third.The Milton Icehawks stifled Oakville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Blades were unable to stop Milton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Icehawks eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Milton bested its season scoring average. The Icehawks average 3.8 goals per game. Milton also had goals scored by Jake Baird, who had one and Jonathon Buttitta, who had two. In addition, Milton received assists from Daniel Holt, who had three and Austin Kosack, Michael Capicotto, Josh Pace, Karndeep Natt, and Daniel Poutscongas, who contributed one a piece. Oakville kept Milton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Plater made 30 saves on 33 shots. The Blades were helped by Len Fabbri, who tallied one goal. Fabbri scored 14:44 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Milton. Greg Campbell provided the assist. Jonah Renouf also scored for Oakville. More assists for Oakville came via Nathan Renouf, Kris Bennet, Zach Berg, and Spencer Green, who each chipped in one. The Icehawks incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Oakville's Spencer Bacon stopped 31 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Blades incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
