A four-goal first period deficit cost the Burlington Cougars, which could not recover and fell to the North York Rangers, 9-3. North York got the win on the strength of a great game by Ryan Kinsella, who had one goal and two assists. Kinsella scored 22 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 North York. Power Brody picked up the assist. Burlington's power play was ineffective against the Rangers' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. North York forced Cougars' goalies to work all game long, getting 39 shots and forcing 30 saves. Carmine Alfano made 29 stops and Brock Novak made one. The Rangers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. North York has scored at the pace of 4.3 goals per game during the current campaign. The Rangers were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on 11 chances. The defensemen of North York were also effective in the Cougars' zone, and came away with three goals. Other players who recorded assists for North York were Valadao Adam, Corey Kalk, and Liam Kerins, who contributed one a piece and Fung Zachary and Franco Loparco, who each chipped in two. Burlington's offense rang up 47 shots on the Rangers' net. The Cougars could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game. Jason Pucciarelli rejected 44 shots on goal for North York. The Rangers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
