Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Mississauga Chargers defeated the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots in a shootout 6-5 (1-0 SO). The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams.Mississauga saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Chargers made the score 5-3 on a goal by Ryan Hunter at 33 seconds in the third period. Toronto Lakeshore evened things up at 5-5 on a goal by Dylan Carter at 16:09 in the third period. Cosimo Fontana had two goals to lead Mississauga to victory. Fontana's tallies came short handed at 9:09 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Mississauga and 12:09 into the first to make the score 3-1 Mississauga. The Chargers stifled the Patriots' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Mississauga surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Chargers average 3.5 goals per contest. Mississauga also got a goal from Nick Zottl as well. More assists for Mississauga came via Matthew Hore, who had two and Stefano Alonzi, Trevor Warnaar, Zackery Landsfield, Vince Figliomeni, Lucas Venuto, and Ross Sloan, who each chipped in one. Toronto Lakeshore forced Mississauga goalie Austin Washkurak to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. The Patriots' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Toronto Lakeshore was helped by Niko Kovachis, who racked up one goal. Kovachis scored 9:35 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Alex D Oliveira picked up the assist. Daniel Tedesco also scored for Toronto Lakeshore. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto Lakeshore were Luke Carter, Nathan Feric, Mike Vallescuro, William Seligman, and Michael Apreda, who contributed one a piece and Doug Bonar and Michael Prapavessis, who each chipped in two. Austin Washkurak made 33 saves for the Chargers on 38 shots. Mississauga incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Patriots' starting goalie, Joseph Pianta, made 18 saves and finished with the sol before he was taken out in favor of Jake Danson, who stopped one shot. Toronto Lakeshore incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
