Trenton beats Aurora 4-2 after comeback scare

The Aurora Tigers tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Trenton Golden Hawks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

A goal by Jordan Minello put Trenton up 4-1 in the third period, but Aurora pulled to within two on Zack MacArthur's tally 19:59 into the third period.

Greg Trichilo had a great game for the Golden Hawks, netting two goals. Trichilo's tallies came at 5:52 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Trenton and 2:30 into the second to make the score 3-0 Trenton.

Trenton racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Golden Hawks had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game. Trenton forced Tigers' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 38 shots and forcing 34 saves. Kevin Entmaa made 13 stops and Brett Sinclair made 21. The Golden Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Aurora power plays.

Trenton additionally got points from Shawn Hulshof, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Trenton came via Josh Timpano, Loren Ulett, Ori Abramson, Mackenzie Scott, Nick Marinac, and Dillon Warner, who each chipped in one.

The Tigers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Aurora was helped by Daniel Lisi, who grabbed one goal. Lisi scored 19:21 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Trenton. David Iacono assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Taylor McCloy, who had one.

Victor Adamo rejected 26 shots on goal for Trenton. The Golden Hawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ulett was ejected from the game. The Tigers ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Aurora, Justin Nice was ejected from the game.
