Andrews' big game bests Stouffville in 5-1 Cobourg win

Colbie Andrews was all over the ice for the Cobourg Cougars, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Cobourg's 5-1 win over the Stouffville Spirit.

Andrews beat Daniel Mannella with a shot 8:37 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cobourg. Theo Lewis provided the assist. Andrews dished an assist on Lewis' goal that made the score 3-1 Cobourg at 9:38 into the second period. He added another helper on Justin Danforth's goal that made the score 4-1 Cobourg at 4:04 into the third period.

The Cougars were led by goalie Nathan Perry, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Perry will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.48.

Cobourg pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes.

Stouffville was unable to stop the Cougars from sending pucks towards the net, and Cobourg eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Cobourg also got points from Lewis, who also registered one goal and one assist and Danforth, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Cobourg also got a goal from Cody Mintz as well. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Jake Emilio, who had two and Corey Helliwell and Mark MacAulay, who contributed one a piece.

The Spirit's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Stouffville finished with 18 penalty minutes.

The Spirit were led by Peyton Backus, who scored the team's only goal. Backus scored on the power play 19:44 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A charging penalty on Danforth had put Stouffville on the power play. Dylan Savory assisted on the tally.

The Cougars registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Mannella rejected 34 shots on goal for the Spirit. Stouffville registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
