Gjurich leads Buffalo over Milton, 6-2

Behind a great game by Tyler Gjurich, who had two goals and one assist, the Buffalo Jr. Sabres defeated the Milton Icehawks, 6-2.

Gjurich found the back of the net 2:42 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Buffalo and again while 8:15 into the second to make the score 3-1 Buffalo.

Buffalo forced Icehawks' netminders to work without much rest, finishing with 38 shots and forcing 32 saves. Daniel Plater made 20 stops and Justin Urquhart made 12. The Jr. Sabres excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Others who scored for Buffalo included Brian Ruff, who had two and David Seward and Pat Egan, who scored one goal each. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Tony DeVito, who had one, Derek Patterson, who had three, and Nathan Pelligra and Nolan Sheeran, who each chipped in two.

Buffalo was unable to stop Milton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Icehawks eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Milton was helped by Jeremy Laing, who had one goal. Laing scored 17:01 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Josh Pace assisted on the tally. Jonathon Buttitta also scored for Milton. Other players who recorded assists for Milton were Jake Baird, Shane Bennett, and Daniel Holt, who contributed one a piece.

Parker Gahagen recorded 33 saves for the Jr. Sabres. Buffalo incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Icehawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
