Early goals doom Pickering, falls to Trenton, 12-0

The Trenton Golden Hawks opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 12-0 over the Pickering Panthers.

Greg Trichilo was all over the ice for Trenton, as he tallied two goals and three assists in the win. Trichilo scored the first of his two goals at 29 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Trenton. Krystian Yorke assisted on the tally. Trichilo's next tally made the score 2-0 Trenton with 17:20 left in the first period.

The Golden Hawks made Pickering's netminders to work without much rest, firing 51 shots and forcing 39 saves. J P Cesario made 15 stops and Conor Barrie made 24. Trenton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Golden Hawks' defensive play was more effective than usual against the Panthers. Trenton averages 2.4 goals allowed per game. The Golden Hawks' goal total was higher than their season average. Trenton averages 4.0 goals per game.

Trenton additionally got points from Shawn Hulshof, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Nick Marinac, who also finished with one goal and three assists, Truman Landowski, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Yorke, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Trenton also had goals scored by Brady Wiffen, who had two and Josh Timpano and Mike Nedoszytko, who each put in one. In addition, Trenton received assists from Loren Ulett and Ori Abramson, who each chipped in one and Jordan Minello, Alex Leader, Robbie Hall, and Sammy Banga, who contributed two a piece.

Pickering did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Panthers put an average of 2.6 pucks into the net per game. Pickering did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 12 shots on net to force 12 saves.

Andrew Winsor rejected 12 shots on goal for the Golden Hawks. Trenton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Panthers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
