Evan Jasper had one point to lead the Cobourg Cougars to a 4-1 victory over the Stouffville Spirit. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:51 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Cobourg was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 13.0 minutes per game the Cougars had been spending in the box. Cobourg excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Corey Helliwell also scored for Cobourg. Other players who recorded assists for Cobourg were Rylee McKinnon, spencer holt, and Nathan Perry, who each chipped in one. Stouffville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Cougars to score on any of their four power plays. The Spirit were led by Michael Morgan, who scored the team's only goal. Morgan scored 17:42 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Cobourg. Robert Powers provided the assist. Nathan Perry made 24 saves for Cobourg on 25 shots. The Cougars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cody Mintz was ejected from the game. Stouffville's Daniel Mannella stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Spirit ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For Stouffville, MARC STEVENS was ejected from the game.
