Oakville beats Milton 7-4 as Laidlaw gets hat trick

Luke Laidlaw lifted the Oakville Blades to a 7-4 victory with a hat trick against the Milton Icehawks.

Laidlaw notched his first tally 19:23 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:01 into the second and at 13:44 into the third.

Oakville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Milton to score on any of its five power plays. The Blades forced the Icehawks goalie Daniel Plater to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Oakville found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Blades average 4.0 goals per contest.

Oakville additionally got points from Len Fabbri, who also registered one goal and two assists and Spencer Green, who also had one goal and two assists. Patrick Chore also scored for Oakville. In addition, Oakville received assists from Aidan Orbinski, Vince Palermo, and Kyle Jenkins, who contributed one a piece and Nathan Renouf and Jonah Renouf, who each chipped in two.

Milton was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Icehawks surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game.

Milton was helped by Karndeep Natt, who racked up one goal. Natt scored 2:35 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Oakville. Justin Devincentis assisted on the tally. Milton also got points from Jonathon Buttitta, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Shane Bennett, who also registered one goal and one assist. Milton also got a goal from Ryan Burns as well. Other players who recorded assists for Milton were Patrick Arnold, who had two and Tyler Burns, Jeremy Laing, and Daniel Holt, who contributed one a piece.

Spencer Bacon rejected 26 shots on goal for Oakville. The Blades incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Plater recorded 31 saves for the Icehawks. Team's Brad Kobryn and Tye Campbell were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
