Mississauga survives Milton comeback, wins 5-3Port Credit Arena Sat, Jan 19, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Mississauga Chargers, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Mississauga and clinched a 5-3 victory. The Chargers led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Mississauga's Matthew Hore's scored at 7:57 in the first period to put the Chargers up 3-0. Mississauga got the win with help from a great game by Lucas Venuto, who had one goal and two assists. Venuto scored on the power play 18:39 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Mississauga. The Chargers had gained a power play chance when Michael Capicotto was whistled for unsportsmanlike conduct. Nick Tetley picked up the assist. Mississauga made the Milton Icehawks' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 52 shots and forcing 47 saves. Daniel Plater made 41 stops and Justin Urquhart made six. The Chargers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Milton to score on any of its five power plays. Mississauga additionally got points from Trevor Warnaar, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Hore, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Vince Figliomeni also scored for Mississauga. Other players who recorded assists for Mississauga were Nick Zottl, Paul Ramieri, and Matt Donnelly, who each chipped in one. The Icehawks forced Mississauga goalie Austin Washkurak to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots. Milton was helped by Justin Devincentis, who registered one goal. Devincentis scored 9:05 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Mississauga. Jake Baird assisted on the tally. Milton also got a goal from Tye Campbell as well. In addition, Milton received assists from Kane Elliot, Daniel Holt, and Daniel Poutscongas, who contributed one a piece. Austin Washkurak made 43 saves for the Chargers on 46 shots. Mississauga incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Icehawks incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
