The Hamilton Red Wings fell behind early, and the Buffalo Jr. Sabres kept piling on the points on the way to a 7-2 victory. Ryan Schmelzer had two goals and two assists to lead Buffalo. Schmelzer scored the first of his two goals at 2:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Josh Kielich provided the assist. Schmelzer's next tally made the score 2-0 Buffalo with 15:43 left in the first period. The Jr. Sabres earned a power play opportunity when Patrick Durgy AP was put in the box for too many men. Sean Federow assisted on the tally. Buffalo forced Hamilton's netminders to work all game long, getting 52 shots and forcing 45 saves. Allen Avery made 17 stops and Bret Gilmore made 28. The Jr. Sabres bested their season scoring average. Buffalo has scored at the pace of 4.5 goals per game during the current campaign. The Jr. Sabres were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to two goals off of 11 man advantages. Buffalo additionally got points from Nathan Pelligra, who also tallied one goal and one assist, David Seward, who also racked up two goals and one assist, and Tim Kielich, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Pat Egan also scored for Buffalo. More assists for Buffalo came via Tyler Gjurich, who had three and Ryall Ledyard and Brian Ruff, who each chipped in one. The Red Wings could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game. Bobby Bloomfield rejected 21 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Jr. Sabres incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Hamilton registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For the Red Wings, Troy Crema was ejected from the game.
