Figliomeni's hat trick boosts Mississauga over Hamilton, 6-2Mountain Arena Mon, Jan 14, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Hamilton Red Wings could not stop the Mississauga Chargers' Vince Figliomeni, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-2 win. Figliomeni notched his first tally 17:27 into the first period. He then added goals at 18:02 into the first and at 2:53 into the second.Mississauga pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes. The Chargers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Hamilton to score on any of its seven power plays. Mississauga's offense rang up 41 shots on the Red Wings' net. The Chargers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Mississauga averages 3.4 goals per contest. Mississauga also got points from Zackery Landsfield, who also finished with one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Mississauga also got a goal from Ryan Hunter as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mississauga were Cosimo Fontana, who had three and Stefano Alonzi, Trevor Warnaar, Nick Tetley, Paul Ramieri, and Matt Donnelly, who each chipped in one. Hamilton was helped by Liam Bird, who grabbed one goal. Bird scored 41 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Mississauga. Denis Fontyn assisted on the tally. Troy Crema also scored for Hamilton. In addition, Hamilton received assists from Chris Micallef, Patrice Fozo, and Alex LeBrosse, who contributed one a piece. Austin Washkurak made 25 saves for the Chargers on 27 shots. Mississauga registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Bret Gilmore rejected 35 shots on goal for the Red Wings. Hamilton incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Team's Spencer Hyman and Niko Porikos were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
