The game between the Aurora Tigers and the Newmarket Hurricanes was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Aurora emerged with a 3-2 win. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Mihkel Poldma's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The Tigers were sparked by Poldma, who grabbed one goal. Poldma scored 15:05 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Aurora. Dylan Wallace assisted on the tally. Aurora excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Aurora also got a goal from Adam DiBrina as well. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were David Iacono and Kory Kennedy, who each chipped in one. Newmarket kept the Tigers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Kevin Entmaa made 32 saves on 34 shots. The Hurricanes were helped by Thomas Beretta, who racked up one goal. Beretta scored 2:55 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Newmarket. Elliott Burlon provided the assist. Chris Chiste also scored for Newmarket. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Alex Bontje, Brandon Francisco, and Daniel Leavens, who contributed one a piece. Aurora incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Matthew Wintjes recorded 23 saves for Newmarket. The Hurricanes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
