Orangeville squeaks by Hamilton, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Orangeville Flyers escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Hamilton Red Wings.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Brandon Gaudette secured the win for Orangeville with a goal in the third period.

The Flyers were led by Gaudette, who grabbed one goal. Gaudette scored 16:05 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Orangeville. Thomas Tsicos provided the assist.

Orangeville stifled Hamilton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Flyers forced the Red Wings goalie Allen Avery to work between the pipes, taking 55 shots.

Orangeville additionally got points from Angelpooulos Peter, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Keegan Ackerland, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Orangeville received assists from Kyle Thacker, Mathew Thompson, and Jason Abbott, who contributed one a piece.

Hamilton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Orangeville to score on any of its five power plays. The Red Wings' offense rang up 33 shots on the Flyers' net.

Hamilton was helped by Denis Fontyn, who tallied one goal and one assist. Fontyn scored 11:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hamilton. Chris Micallef picked up the assist. Hamilton also got points from Micallef, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Hamilton came via Braxton Andrews and Jason OConnor, who each chipped in one.

Orangeville's Bo Bessette stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Flyers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Allen Avery made 52 saves for the Red Wings on 55 shots. Hamilton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
