The Lindsay Muskies' Jake Taylor had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-1 win over the Newmarket Hurricanes. Taylor found the back of the net 1:42 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 4:45 into the first to make the score 3-1 Lindsay.Lindsay made Newmarket's goaltenders to work without much rest, totaling 31 shots and forcing 26 saves. Lucas Peressini made 10 stops and Matthew Wintjes made 16. The Muskies put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hurricanes to score on any of their four power plays. Lindsay also got points from Louis-David Bourgault, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Felix Chamberland, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Lindsay were Patrick Thornton, Tyler Donaldson, Corey Jackson, and Brian Hubers, who contributed one a piece. Newmarket's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Lindsay power plays. The Hurricanes could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Newmarket puts an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. The Hurricanes' normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. Newmarket gives up 2.4 goals per game. The Hurricanes were led by Brandon Francisco, who scored the team's only goal. Francisco scored 1:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Newmarket. Daniel Leavens assisted on the tally. Tanner Davis rejected 21 shots on goal for Lindsay. The Muskies incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Newmarket incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
