Oakville rolls over Milton, 5-2

The Oakville Blades were firing on all cylinders against the Milton Icehawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Blades emerged with a 5-2 win.

Oakville was sparked by Rory Bell, who grabbed one goal. Bell scored 8:23 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Oakville. Greg Campbell picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:32 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Blades forced Milton goalie Daniel Plater to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Oakville also got points from Stefan Leblanc, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Kyle Jenkins, who also registered one goal and one assist. Oakville also got a goal from Patrick Chore as well. Other players who recorded assists for Oakville were Jonah Renouf, who had two and Nathan Renouf and Matt Alvaro, who contributed one a piece.

Oakville was unable to stop the Icehawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Milton eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

The Icehawks were led by Michael Capicotto, who racked up one goal. Capicotto scored 14:58 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Oakville. Shane Bennett assisted on the tally. Jonathon Buttitta also scored for Milton. More assists for Milton came via Daniel Holt, Justin Devincentis, and Daniel Poutscongas, who each chipped in one.

Evan Buitenhuis rejected 36 shots on goal for the Blades. Oakville totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. For the Blades, Eli Berg was ejected from the game. Plater recorded 29 saves for Milton. The Icehawks totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Team's Kane Elliot and Tye Campbell were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
