Behind two goals from Justin Danforth and two goals Dalton Bew, the Cobourg Cougars downed the Lindsay Muskies 10-4. Danforth scored the first of his two goals at 11:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg. Ryan OGrady provided the assist. Danforth's next tally made the score 10-4 Cobourg with 4:27 left in the third period. Bew scored the first of his two goals at 2:38 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cobourg. Taylor Gauld assisted on the tally. Bew's next tally made the score 5-2 Cobourg with 4:01 left in the second period. Gauld picked up the assist.Cobourg made Muskies' goalies to work between the pipes, launching 38 shots and forcing 28 saves. Matt Robson made seven stops and Tanner Davis made 21. The Cougars bested their season scoring average. Cobourg has scored at the pace of 3.2 goals per game during the current campaign. The Cougars got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Cobourg could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 40 minutes in penalties during the game. Cobourg also got points from Jake Emilio, who also had one goal and one assist, Mitchell Burghardt, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Gauld, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Conner Hogg also scored for Cobourg. More assists for Cobourg came via Riley Robertson, Cody Mintz, Dylan Goddard, Theo Lewis, Colbie Andrews, and Evan Jasper, who each chipped in one. Lindsay forced the Cougars goalie Nathan Perry to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Team could not crack Cobourg's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage. The Muskies were led by Jake Taylor, who tallied two goals. Taylor scored the first of his two goals at 55 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Louis-David Bourgault assisted on the tally. Taylor's next tally made the score 6-4 Cobourg with 13:51 left in the third period. Lindsay had gained a power play chance when Kenzie Smith was whistled for cross checking. Bourgault picked up the assist. Lindsay also got a goal from Bryce Sweeting as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lindsay were Felix Chamberland, who had two and Patrick Thornton, Matt McCartney, Tyler Donaldson, and Terry Snoddon, who contributed one a piece. Perry rejected 27 shots on goal for the Cougars. Cobourg registered one goal on five power play opportunities. The Muskies ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Lindsay, Bourgault was ejected from the game.
