Wellington holds on for 3-2 win against Stouffville

The Stouffville Spirit tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Wellington Dukes held on for a 3-2 victory.

A goal by Erick Delaurentis put Wellington up 3-1 in the third period, but Stouffville pulled to within one on Dylan Savory's tally 18:00 into the third period.

The Dukes were sparked by Delaurentis, who tallied one goal. Delaurentis scored 9:16 into the third period to make the score Wellington. Mike Soucier picked up the assist.

Wellington forced the Spirit goalie Daniel Mannella to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Spencer Turcotte also scored for Wellington. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Brody Morris, Luc Brown, and Jake Marchment, who contributed one a piece.

Stouffville's offense rang up 34 shots on the Dukes' net.

The Spirit were led by Robert Powers, who registered one goal and one assist. Powers scored 2:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville. Daryl Thompson assisted on the tally. More assists for Stouffville came via Taylor Joseph, who had one.

Matt Larose recorded 32 saves for Wellington. The Dukes incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Mannella rejected 30 shots on goal for Stouffville. The Spirit incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
