Pianta leads Toronto Lakeshore to shutout victory over Oakville

Joseph Pianta was superb between the pipes for the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots, as he did not allow a goal in a 7-0 victory over the Oakville Blades.

Toronto Lakeshore got the win thanks to a great game by Doug Bonar, who had two goals and two assists. Bonar scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 3:14 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Toronto Lakeshore. A bench / coach penalty on Rory Bell had put the Patriots on the power play. Nathan Feric picked up the assist. Bonar's next tally on the power play made the score 5-0 Toronto Lakeshore with 12:38 left in the second period. Feric assisted on the tally.

Toronto Lakeshore forced Oakville's netminders to work in net, racking up 46 shots and forcing 39 saves. Evan Buitenhuis made 16 stops and Spencer Bacon made 23. The Patriots' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Oakville power plays. Toronto Lakeshore's defensive play was more effective than usual against the Blades. The Patriots allow 2.9 goals per game. Toronto Lakeshore surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Patriots have scored at the pace of 4.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

Toronto Lakeshore additionally got points from Daniel Tedesco, who also registered one goal and two assists and Feric, who also grabbed one goal and three assists. Toronto Lakeshore also got a goal from Marcus Rose as well. More assists for Toronto Lakeshore came via Kyle Dutra, who had two and Tyler Enns, Luke Carter, and Brody Heleno, who each chipped in one.
