GAME RECAP

Trenton blows out Stouffville, 4-1

Duncan Memorial    Sat, Jan 05, 2013

The Trenton Golden Hawks were firing on all cylinders against the Stouffville Spirit, and when the final buzzer sounded Golden Hawks emerged with a 4-1 win.

Stouffville's power play was ineffective against Trenton's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Golden Hawks were paced by Sammy Banga, who racked up one goal. Banga scored 19:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Trenton. Josh Timpano provided the assist.

Trenton was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 16.0 minutes per game the Golden Hawks had been spending in the box. Trenton kept the Spirit's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Mannella made 27 saves on 31 shots.

Trenton also got points from Jordan Minello, who also had one goal and one assist and Krystian Yorke, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Trenton also got a goal from Loren Ulett as well. In addition, Trenton received assists from Michael Walker, Nolan Martin, Dillon Warner, Truman Landowski, and Brady Wiffen, who each chipped in one.

Stouffville struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 28 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

The Spirit were led by MARC STEVENS, who scored the team's only goal. STEVENS scored on the power play 5:06 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Trenton. A boarding penalty on Warner had put Stouffville on the power play. Michael Stevens assisted on the tally.

Andrew Winsor took the win and made six saves before being replaced by Victor Adamo who made eight saves. The Golden Hawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ulett was ejected from the game.
