Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Trenton Golden Hawks defeated the Aurora Tigers in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams.Trenton overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Golden Hawks fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Aurora's Adam DiBrina at 12:48 in the second period. Trenton tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Sammy Banga at 7:53 in the third period. The Golden Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Aurora power plays. Trenton forced the Tigers goalie Brett Sinclair to work between the pipes, taking 57 shots. Trenton also got a goal from Jordan Minello as well. Other players who recorded assists for Trenton were Victor Adamo, Josh Timpano, Ori Abramson, Greg Trichilo, and Shawn Hulshof, who contributed one a piece. Aurora put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Golden Hawks to score on any of their three power plays. The Tigers kept Trenton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Adamo made 28 saves on 31 shots. Aurora also got points from Adam Moody, who also had one goal and one assist. Matt Andreacchi also scored for Aurora. More assists for Aurora came via Taylor McCloy, Kory Kennedy, Blake Forslund, and Mihkel Poldma, who each chipped in one. The Golden Hawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Aurora's Sinclair stopped 53 shots out of the 56 that he faced. The Tigers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
