Shane Bennett lifted the Milton Icehawks to a 10-3 victory with a hat trick against the Hamilton Red Wings. Bennett got on the scoresheet 11 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 12:57 into the first and at 7:54 into the third.Milton's offense rang up 50 shots on Hamilton's net. The Icehawks surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Milton has scored at the pace of 4.0 goals per game during the current campaign. Team could not crack the Red Wings' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage. The defensemen of the Icehawks were also effective in Hamilton's zone, and came away with two goals. Milton additionally got points from Michael Capicotto, who also had one goal and one assist, Tye Campbell, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Daniel Holt, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Justin Devincentis, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Milton also had goals scored by Tyler Burns, who had one and Josh Pace, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Milton were Daniel Poutscongas and Will Irons, who contributed one a piece, Austin Kosack and Jake Baird, who each chipped in two, and Kane Elliot and Ryan Burns, who contributed three a piece. The Red Wings were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 34 penalty minutes. Hamilton was led by Luke Laidlaw, who had three goals. In addition, Hamilton received assists from Jason OConnor, who had one and Troy Crema and Adam Brady, who contributed two a piece. Milton's Daniel Plater stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Icehawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Allen Avery rejected 40 shots on goal for the Red Wings. Hamilton registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. For the Red Wings, Chris Micallef was ejected from the game.
