Toronto Lakeshore beats Hamilton 7-0 as Danson gains shutout

Jake Danson was superb between the pipes for the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots, as he did not allow a goal in a 7-0 victory over the Hamilton Red Wings.

Toronto Lakeshore's penalty kill excelled, as the Patriots gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Toronto Lakeshore stifled Hamilton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Patriots featured an improved defense during the game. Toronto Lakeshore gives up 3.0 goals on average per game. The Patriots kept the Red Wings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Allen Avery made 49 saves on 56 shots. Toronto Lakeshore found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Patriots have scored at the pace of 4.1 goals per game during the current campaign.

Toronto Lakeshore was helped by Kyle Dutra, who grabbed one goal. Dutra scored on the power play 17:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto Lakeshore. The Patriots had gained a power play chance when Niko Porikos was whistled for tripping. Tyler Enns provided the assist. Toronto Lakeshore also got points from Nathan Feric, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Toronto Lakeshore included Dylan Carter, who had two and Angelpooulos Peter, Niko Kovachis, and Wes Deme, who scored one goal each. In addition, Toronto Lakeshore received assists from Daniel Tedesco, Brandon Hughes APM, Doug Bonar, and Brody Heleno, who each chipped in one and William Seligman, Michael Apreda, and Alex D Oliveira, who contributed two a piece.

Hamilton's offense operated below it season average. The Red Wings put an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. Toronto Lakeshore was unable to stop Hamilton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Red Wings eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Hamilton's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Red Wings finished with 18 penalty minutes.

Danson rejected 33 shots on goal for the Patriots. Toronto Lakeshore incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
