Lindsay squeaks by Cobourg, 4-3

The Lindsay Muskies and the Cobourg Cougars were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Lindsay made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Bryan Hignett secured the win for the Muskies with a goal in the third period.

Lindsay was led by Hignett, who had one goal. Hignett scored 18:07 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Lindsay. Brian Hubers picked up the assist.

The Muskies' offense rang up 35 shots on Cobourg's net. Lindsay was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play.

Lindsay also got a goal from Cole Murduff as well. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Patrick Thornton, Vince Herlihey, Corey Jackson, and Jake Taylor, who each chipped in one.

The Cougars forced the Muskies goalie Tanner Davis to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Cobourg was helped by Evan Jasper, who grabbed one goal. Jasper scored 11:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg. Kenzie Smith assisted on the tally. Cobourg additionally got points from Cody Mintz, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Dylan Goddard also scored for Cobourg. Other players who recorded assists for Cobourg were Colbie Andrews and Conor Carson, who contributed one a piece.

Tanner Davis made 34 saves for Lindsay on 37 shots. The Muskies incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. CJ Sharp recorded 31 saves for the Cougars. Cobourg incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
