Orangeville rips Milton, 5-1

The Orangeville Flyers had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Milton Icehawks.

Milton was stymied by Orangeville netminder Taylor Welsh, who stopped 38 shots during the victory. Welsh managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 4.38 prior to the game.

The Flyers were led by Kyle Wood, who tallied one goal. Wood scored 16:09 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Orangeville. Kelby Lorenz picked up the assist.

Orangeville forced the Icehawks goalie Justin Urquhart to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Ian Nichols also scored for Orangeville. More assists for Orangeville came via Peter Stepanis, who had two and Kyle Thacker, Brandon Gaudette, John Doyle, Brad Shepard, Francis Cote, Jordan Carvalho, and Keegan Ackerland, who contributed one a piece.

Milton could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Icehawks average 3.9 goals per game. Milton's offense rang up 39 shots on the Flyers' net.

Orangeville totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Flyers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jason Abbott was ejected from the game. Justin Urquhart made 33 saves for the Icehawks on 38 shots. Milton totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For the Icehawks, Patrick Arnold was ejected from the game.
